Potatoes and Blooming Bluebells

Hi Ho Hi Ho, It's off to garden we go

Photobucket

The Rocket from last week has started to come up already.

The bed of Charlotte potatoes is really going for it now, we've earthed up the 4 or 5 plants that were over 15 cm tall. We'll earth up all of them next weekend.

Photobucket

We earthed up the Roosters in their compost bags too :)

The bluebells are blooming, and looking beautiful. We pulled up one that was growing through the middle of the path and gave it to Abi to play with...after I'd modelled it for a photo ;)

The whitecurrants have set berries on, we've netted them up to keep the birds off. The birds had taken some of the berries already, but I think we've saved 95% of them.

The cherry tree is blooming wonderfully, it's a shame we have to net it up.

Photobucket

The blueberry from Wigglys is all set to flower too. The one from Marshalls looks like it won't be bothering this year, but it's looking healthy so hopeful for next year.

Photobucket

The Wisteria is just beginning to bloom too, so the whole of that side of the garden should be covered in beautiful purple flowers within a week or so. Then it will be bee and butterfly mad back there :)

Mini Herbs :(

After chasing up delivery of a herb collection I ordered in January for delivery in early March I finally received them this morning.

I'm amazed that a company sells such teeny tiny plug plants for the cost. I paid £6.95 for this

Look at the lovely established plants on the site. I wasn't expecting a huge established plant but I'm still shocked by the parcel that arrived.

The original plan was to chuck them straight into the herb bed, but I've potted them on for now to give them chance to establish first.

After all the hassles of repeatedly chasing customer service for some kind of ETA on my plants, plus the quality of the delivered product compared to other companies, I don't think I'll be using Marshalls again.

Still waiting....

Well still waiting for any delivery from Marshalls...I've emailed once and called, they can only confirm it's not yet on it's way. They can't say what will be to follow, or when I can expect it...only some stuff will make it's way to me soonish. Grrrr

In contrast, Wiggly delivered within 4 days, everything except the horseradish root and there's a note on the packing note that it is to follow in spring.

Tomorrow I'll edit this note with some photo's. We're off outside to do some minor repairs to the greenhouse, turn the compost to get those wormies moving and rake some of the leaves of the raised beds.

I've also bought some Basil seeds as that was one herb missing from my last order, and I want to companion plant them with my tomatoes :)

Wiggly Seed, 3kg bag - birdseed

Metal Planter, 190mm Square Metal Planter x 2- bargain and will be for my mint.

Flower Meadow Seed Mix, 10g - I think it's a fab idea, and will help with pollenation too

Garden is mostly planned out, will need to double check some rotation information and redo it. Then I'll scan in a pic.

Also I have a wonderful gardening book to help me plan and document what's happening.
